The Richest Man in Babylon
Before the book begins it starts off with saying: “Money is governed today by the same laws which controlled it when prosperous men thronged the streets of Babylon, SIX THOUSAND YEARS AGO.”
So the question is what are the simple laws to wealth.
Number 1: Learn to live upon less than you earn. No matter what you earn, pay yourself at least one-tenth. You’ll adapt and find that it won’t make a difference to your day to day life.
Number 2: Learn to seek advice from those who are competent through their own experiences to give it. In other words have a range of friends that all have different areas of expertise. This is developing you to become a person of value to the market.
Number 3: Now you have managed to save one-tenth consistently and built up a friends group who specialise in different areas. It’s time to INVEST the money and use the knowledge that has been acquired from your friends and your own studies. Ask yourself, how can I get my savings to generate more money instead of just sitting in my bank.
These are the three laws summarised. Within the book there are fantastic stories of putting the laws into action. I highly recommend everyone to read it to understand how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer but also understand you choose your own path of wealth.
