The 5am Club - “when we see the icons in action, too many people believe they were born into their exceptionalism, the won the DNA lottery. It is not true! You’re seeing the result of years and years of practice all coming together"

This is the best book I have ever read and I could talk about it for hours but I will try to summarise it the best I can, so here we go.
It starts off with a entrepreneur who is thinking about committing suicide but before doing so, notices that her mum left a ticket to a personal optimisation conference. At this event the entrepreneur meets an artist and a billionaire, the billionaire offers these two an opportunity of a lifetime, to be shown the way the top 5% think. The only catch is that once you’ve have been given this information you must share it with others.

Some of the key principles that the top 5% follow:

1. 20/20/20 - The first hour of your day = 20 minutes exercise, 20 minutes stillness/meditation and 20 minutes self development. Within this book you’ll learn the psychology of the brain of why it is so beneficial. Ultimately a positive mind set first thing in the morning sets you off to make lots of good seemingly small insignificant decisions like choosing an apple over a chocolate however all these small good decisions added together leads you to have a productive day.

2. Top performers in the field apply a mentality of GRANULARITY, which means paying attention to the small fine details. The margin between reaching your goals or not is fractional; for example winning the 100 metres at the Olympic Games by a tenth of a second or tracking all your outgoings in business to the penny to see where my profit can be generated to stop the business from going bust.

3. Three step formula which is improve your daily awareness, you make better daily decisions and start seeing better daily results. Be consciously aware of all your goals when you are making decisions and choose the path that brings you closer even if its a lot harder.

4. The 4 interior empires which is mindset(psychology), heart set(emotions), soul set (spiritually) and health set (physical). Growing in these four areas will make you feel self-fulfilment, inner peace and love which leads you to happy life. The book shows you the ways how to develop yourself in these areas.

5. The importance of recovery, make sure we rest and relax our mind as growth happens when we are resting after hard work not during. How many times have you studied something and not understood it then came back a week later and then you understand. By doing this you have allowed your subconscious mind to digest the information.

The best bit for me - “when we see the icons in action, too many people believe they were born into their exceptionalism, the won the DNA lottery. It is not true! You’re seeing the result of years and years of practice all coming together. All they did was small daily tasks CONSISTENTLY for very very long period of time, something 95% people will not do. Greatness is in all of us”
